You may already know, I’m a “good mood foodie” from way back and I have always had a love affair with plant-based, whole foods, superfoods and herbal supplements. In fact, over the years I have probably tried them all… Until now.
When the nice people at Nourished asked me to try their 3-D printed nutritional supplements, after scratching my head for a minute, I jumped on the chance. I mean, what the heck is a 3-D printed supplement anyway, and is it even edible? Let’s face it, the concept of 3-D printed edible supplements sounds pretty weird. Right?
But after researching the company, I learned that basically the 3-D printing process is simply the method by which each nutritional ingredient is added to the final product known as a Nutritional "stack." This stack is the result of your very own personalised combination. Not only are these stacks yummy, but they also contain premium, vegan ingredients from natural, high-grade food sources and are safe for most allergies.
THE POWER OF CUSTOMISATION
One of the best things about my journey with Nourished was the online quiz that I took that walked me through the process of designing my own custom nutritional stack. In fact, the web site is very impressive overall, but the quiz created a chance for me to really explore my nutritional needs before deciding which supplements I wanted to be added to my daily multi-vitamin.
As an over 50 woman in menopause, I wanted Nutritionals that would increase my energy levels, support my bones, and brain health, reduce inflammation, and support anti-ageing. So, for my custom stack I chose, Ashwagandha, silica, lycopene, selenium, cordyceps and “Careflow” mango powder.
What's "Careflow" Mango Powder?
“Careflow” mango powder is a trademarked Nourished special in-house blend that helps improve blood flow & circulatory health. It has been shown to help lower blood pressure, support improved glucose metabolism, and is powerfully anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
To be honest, I’m not sure how much I noticed the benefit of each individual ingredient since they are all stacked together, but I’ll sum up my general benefits in just a little while. For now, I’d like to share a few of my general impressions. The good and not-so-good.
Nourished is a new, forward-thinking company with a revolutionary idea for delivering nutrition. Their ambition is to change the way the world thinks, buys, and experiences nutrition. They've collaborated with industry experts and utilised the advice of their own in-house nutritionists to create truly personalised nutrition. And it's clear, it's utterly unique.
The other good features are that the stacks are fully vegan, sugar-free, made from high-grade food sources and are customised. The packaging is plastic-free, the boxes are recyclable, and they are made right here in the UK. Plus, when they arrive, they look amazing! Each supplement is individually wrapped in biodegradable material and has your first name and expiration date printed on them (wow). Overall, it feels very personal :)
THE NOT SO GOOD
Like many things, the not-so-good is often wrapped in the same package as the good. Which ironically brings me back to the packaging. Although it's lovely and eco-friendly, I found it a little much. In fact, in our small, Victorian terraced house kitchen, I found it difficult to find a place to store the box. I know its a little thing, but this was a downfall for me.
The other not-so-good thing is the gummy-like supplements are yummy if you want a piece of candy, but for my taste, they are far too big and sweet. In fact, I had a hard time eating them after a meal and I eventually just lost my taste for them. That being said, some people might find the sweetness pleasant after a meal, like a little dessert or tasty post-meal treat.
There is a lot I like about Nourished. I like the customised Nutritionals that come via subscription each month straight to my door. I like seeing my name on each individual package, and I REALLY like being able to select my own personalised combination.
However, I think I prefer my Nutritionals the old-fashioned way, in a pill, powder, capsule or tea. If you would like to try Nourished for yourself, you can get a one-month subscription on their SUMMER SALE for 50% OFF WITH CODE SUMMER50 at www.get-nourished.com .
I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
